Hello. I was wondering if anyone might know of restraint systems available for older children for use in the car. My sister's adoptive daughter who is 10 and I think around 80 pounds, has recently become very aggressive in the car. On one occasion my sister has been whacked repeatedly with a CD case while she was driving the car. She had to pull over and use the therapeutic hold on my niece, which worked and calmed her down. My sister now makes sure nothing is in the back seats of the car. However, that didn't stop my niece. She then decided to attempt to strangle my sister with the seatbelt. My sister now makes her sit on the opposite side of the car. However, that also didn't stop her. The last attack, for lack of better word, was with a water bottle. This last attack was the worst and nothing would calm my niece down and the police were called. Her therapist suggested to my sister a car restraint system. I've been trying to find one but to no avail. I found this board and thought someone might be able to lead me in the right direction. My sister wants to keep herself, her child, and others on the road safe. Can anyone offer any advice on a way to restrain her? Thank you.
