Hello
I adopted my ex-wife's son 10 years ago. He is 16 now. 8 years ago, he began counseling for anger issues. The past 2-3 years have been miserable. I divorced 3 years ago. The 16 year old was in trouble with the law over inappropriate acts of a sexual nature. He is a very angry person. I have been taking him to counseling on a regular basis. I now feel that he is a threat. The bullying of siblings and a complete disregard for my authority are some of the current situations. I am seeking advise on residential treatment. It is my opinion and the opinion of others, professional in nature, that it is the next logical step in addressing his issues. I am constantly walking on pins and needles around him. The violent attitude has caused me to not allow him to come and stay at my home. I have to sleep with one eye open if he did. I have contacted my local mental health board, children's services, the salvation army, and the justice system. I have been told my all that there is nothing to be done until he does something "bad" enough to put him back into the legal system. I have been searching for 6 months for residential treatment that I can afford. I currently have limited financial means to send him somewhere. I have been working with my pastor about this issue. We have not had much success. I do not want him to get the help he needs by creating another victim. It is a very frustrating problem. Is there anyone who can offer some advice?
Thanks
