What do all of you as single parents do about balancing family time during the major holidays? Do you and your child(ren) spend it all with your parents/extended family? Or do you spend some time creating your own immediate family traditions and rituals? For example, Hannah and I always go out of state to spend Christmas with my brother and his family, and my parents. But, I'm wondering about Hannah and I creating our own at-home Christmas traditions. Yes, we do pre-Christmas things, but when might I think about she and I staying home...? Is extended family the right way to go, or should we be creating our own immediate family traditions?
