Hi back! Wonder what happened here? Still there? I'm curious about this topic, because there is such disagreement about the subject of adoptive names: change everything and start over with a "new" life, or keep birth names as part of who a child is?

well new borns in most cases do get their whole name changed first middle and last not some will keep given first name, Now with older childer they do keep their first names, now soem have changed them cause they do want to be called something else. Also some of the older kids will keep their given last name asa middle name and some dropp it completely.

I'm thinking, then, that an older adopted child would make the final decision. I wouldn't want to take anything away that they are emotionally attached to. Afterall, who they were then is a part of who they are now (whether we consider that blessing or not!).

also keep in mind in most case when it comes to an older child in 90% of the cases they do change their last name and soem will even change their first name. Some of them know very well what was done to them and they want to havea fresh new start as well
