We have started using Magic Island with our 10 yr old AD. She has trouble relaxing & going to sleep. It uses guided imagery & soothing music. Magic Island is about a hot air balloon ride to a magical island.

I highly recommend books by Paul Jennings and Morris Gleitzman. Some of their books are co-authored but they also write individually.

Warning that these have mention of gross stuff that boys love - bad smells and funny faces and garbage jokes. The stories are about boys having adventures trying to solve everyday problems.
